What AskThis measures, how the dashboard is organized, and the privacy rules the pipeline is built on.
AskThis analytics answer two questions no other tool does: how visitors move your content into AI conversations, and what they ask when they get there.
Events we track
Every widget interaction becomes an anonymous event:

Each event carries a hashed session identifier, a hashed page URL, page type, timestamp, anonymized geo region and device class. No names, no emails, no clear-text IPs — the widget collects no PII, and whether this anonymous data may be sold is consent-gated (Global Privacy Control honored).
The dashboard
- Overview — shares and AI clicks over time, split AI-vs-social, top pages and top platforms.
- Questions — the ask-box questions your visitors typed, grouped by page and theme. This is intent data straight from your audience: what they wanted to know that the page didn’t answer.
- AI referrals — traffic arriving from AI assistants that cite you, so outbound sharing and inbound citation appear side by side.
- Citation Monitor (beta; Business and above) — tracks whether the answer engines cite you or a competitor for the queries you care about.
History windows
Event history depends on your plan: 30 days on Free, one year on Pro, up to 10 years on Business and Enterprise. Exports (CSV and API) are available from Pro up.
A note on the pipeline
Widget events flow through AskThis’s own first-party pipeline only — never through Google Analytics or any third-party analytics script. That keeps the widget light on your pages and keeps your visitors’ behavior out of third-party hands. To pull events into your own tools, use the REST API.
