Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated July 16, 2026

Draft — pending legal review

AskThis is a digital subscription. This policy explains how to cancel, when we refund, and how quickly. We have written it so you can tell in one screen whether you will get your money back.

The short version

  • Cancel any time from your dashboard. You keep your paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • We do not refund the unused part of a period when you cancel mid-cycle.
  • If you are unhappy with your first payment on a new subscription, tell us within 7 days and we will refund it.
  • Purchased AI credit packs are not refundable once bought, because they are usable immediately.
  • Nothing here overrides your rights under consumer law.

What we sell

AskThis is a software-as-a-service product delivered entirely online. Two things are chargeable: a subscription (Pro, Business or Enterprise), billed monthly or annually in advance; and optional AI credit packs, bought as one-off top-ups.

There is no free trial. The Free plan is permanent and needs no card, so you can evaluate AskThis for as long as you like before paying anything.

Cancellation

Cancel at any time from Billing in your dashboard. No email, no phone call, no retention conversation.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep your paid features until then, and we do not bill you again. After that your organisation moves to the Free plan — your account and data are not deleted, and your widget keeps working.

We do not refund the unused portion of a billing period, on monthly or annual plans. If you cancel an annual plan in month two, you keep the plan for the remaining ten months rather than receiving money back.

To delete your account and data entirely, rather than just stop paying, see the Privacy Policy.

Refunds

First payment on a new subscription

If AskThis is not right for you, tell us within 7 days of your first payment on a new subscription and we will refund it in full. You do not need to justify the request. This applies to your first payment only — not to renewals, and not to a plan you have already been paying for.

Renewals

We email before an annual renewal. If a renewal catches you by surprise and you have not meaningfully used the service since it renewed, write to us within 7 days and we will look at it sympathetically. We would rather refund an unwanted renewal than argue about it.

AI credit packs

Purchased credit packs are not refundable. Credits are delivered and usable the moment you buy them, and each one we serve costs us real money in AI processing — so we cannot take them back once bought.

Buy the smallest pack that fits your need; you can always buy another. Purchased credits never expire, so nothing is lost by under-buying. Credits included with your plan are different: they expire 30 days after they are granted and carry no cash value, so they are not refundable either.

When we will refund beyond this policy

  • You were charged in error, charged twice, or charged after cancelling.
  • A prolonged failure on our side left the service materially unusable for a significant part of a billing period.
  • Your consumer-protection law entitles you to a refund.
  • We terminate your account for a reason that is not your breach of our terms — in which case we refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

When we will not refund

  • You forgot to cancel and the period has largely been used.
  • You used the service and simply changed your mind, outside the windows above.
  • We terminated your account for breach of the acceptable-use section of our terms.
  • You are asking for the unused part of a period after cancelling.

How to request a refund

Email hello@askthis.io from the address on the account, with the invoice number or payment date. There is no form to fill in.

  1. We acknowledge your request within 3 business days.
  2. If we approve it, we issue the refund to the original payment method — we cannot send it anywhere else.
  3. Your bank or card issuer then takes up to 10 business days to show it. That part is out of our hands.
  4. If we decline, we tell you why, and you can ask us to look again.

Refunds are issued in the currency you were charged in. We do not cover exchange-rate movement between the charge and the refund, or fees your own bank applies.

Please talk to us before raising a chargeback. A chargeback costs us a fee and freezes the payment while the bank investigates, which makes it slower for you than simply emailing us.

Delivery, shipping and returns

AskThis is digital. Nothing is shipped, so no shipping charges, delivery timelines or returns of physical goods apply.

Delivery is immediate and automatic: subscription features unlock as soon as payment is confirmed, and purchased credits appear in your balance the moment the payment gateway confirms the charge — normally within seconds. If a payment succeeded but your account did not update, tell us at hello@askthis.io and we will fix it.

Because the product is delivered instantly and in full, the statutory cooling-off rights that apply to physical goods generally do not apply. The 7-day window above is what we offer in their place.

Price changes and taxes

We may change our prices. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice before a change affects them, and it never applies mid-period — you can cancel first if you would rather not pay the new price.

Prices are shown exclusive of tax unless stated otherwise. Where GST or another tax applies, it is added at checkout and shown on your invoice, which you can download from Billing at any time.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the consumer-protection law where you live, including under India's Consumer Protection Act, 2019. If your law gives you a better right than this policy, your law wins.

If we cannot resolve a refund dispute between us, our Grievance Officer, Rajesh Dalsaniya, is reachable at grievance@askthis.io and will respond within 15 days.
